Featured Work - Infernovine
I took this photo in the fall of 2024 at one of my regular central Florida trails on a day with a very persistent rain, as if the clouds decided that this image would have the added streaking texture, no matter when I captured these cattle. I was actually singing at them, which is why I have all of their attention, and I had this very peaceful bond with them in that moment. Now I have to throw them under one of the citrus flavored buses we have, because in my mind I see them as this cult from Hell with a literal demon staring directly at me. That is part of why everything is shifted red, which also brings out the autumnal colors to the trees in the background. Although these trees don’t truly reach this color, it reflects the fact that many species present can not be identified as native to Florida. Infernovine is ultimately about how you and I are an invasive species virtually everywhere we go, and these inevitable creatures are part of that, which has transformed the primordial swamps and marshlands into grazing opportunities. Nothing we see today is as it was before, and soon even this will be a memory— a picture.
