Hello! I am just Nick. I’m a highly motivated artist living in central Florida. I’ve lived several lives in my lifetime, and I hope my condensed experience is reflected in my pieces. Every day is a new day.
After wearing so many different hats, trying to figure out which one fits me best, I have finally settled on the bespoke beret. Creating is the only thing that I find deeply fulfilling, the only work that gives me more energy at the end of the day. Although I have always appreciated art, I never created until the need to make art, the compulsion, was imprinted upon me. Now it is hard to imagine my life before I had the entire spectrum of light pulsing through my arteries.
My work focuses on the ecocentric perspective, as opposed to anthropocentric point of view, to which humans often default. I tend to highlight things that someone who is busy with their high speed and high stress lives might not ever notice, and remind them that there is more to life than whatever seems most pressing at the moment. My hope is that by bringing attention to what would otherwise be passed by, I inspire advocacy and activism for the voiceless Mother Nature.
I always attempt to create a narrative with my photos, often using atypical photography techniques (read: breaking the rules) to hide my message in plain sight. I pay close attention to aspects like the background and secondary subjects to create works that can be enjoyed more on repeated viewings. Often, I imagine that my camera is seeing the world through my subjects eyes, and so I also use color manipulation to reflect the perspective of the photo’s subject, along with themes that certain colors represent.
